Budgeting together goes wrong when one person owns the spreadsheet and the other only hears about it after the fact. A few habits make shared money calmer.
Agree on what is shared
Decide which accounts, bills, and goals are joint and which stay personal. Many households share rent, groceries, and savings goals while keeping personal spending private.
Give everyone their own login
A single shared login makes it impossible to see who changed what. Savi Households lets partners sync transactions and set shared goals without sharing one account, and you can assign viewer or editor roles. Households are created on the Pro plan, and Basic members can take part when invited.
Look at the same numbers
Joint and individual cash flow side by side, plus everyone's remaining budget for the month, turns "can we afford this?" into a quick check instead of an argument. The Household feature page covers what each person can see.
Set goals you both want
Shared goals, such as a trip or a down payment, work best with a target and a date. Our guide to cash flow forecasting shows how to check that the plan fits your income.
