Build the financed vehicle amount from dollar inputs you control. Add the purchase price and financed tax or fee amount, then subtract cash down and trade-in credit.

Enter all amounts in one currency. Currency selection changes labels, not amounts or jurisdiction. No conversion is performed.

How this calculator works

Financed principal = purchase price + entered tax and fees − down payment − trade-in credit. A nominal annual percentage is divided by 12 for the monthly rate. The payment amortizes principal over the entered term; at 0%, payment is principal divided by months. Taxes and fees are financed in this model rather than treated as separate cash costs.

Worked example

A vehicle priced at 20,000 with 1,000 in financed taxes and fees, 3,000 down and 2,000 trade-in credit leaves 16,000 financed. At 0% over 40 months, the payment is 400.

Assumptions and limits

No jurisdictional tax rate, rebate, negative trade equity, insurance, maintenance or ownership-cost estimate is assumed. Enter net trade-in credit only. Down payment plus trade-in cannot exceed purchase price plus financed taxes and fees.

How to choose your inputs

Use the vehicle’s written price and enter only taxes and fees that will be financed. Subtract cash down and the trade-in credit available after repaying the trade-in’s debt. If the trade has negative equity, this form does not accept that as positive credit; obtain a clear financed-amount breakdown before modeling the new purchase.

How to interpret your result

The payment covers borrowing, not insurance, maintenance or fuel. Compare term choices with total interest and the possibility of owing more than the vehicle’s value, rather than shopping only for a small payment. Cash down and trade-in value are resources used at purchase even though they are not included in later loan payments.
