Savings Goal Calculator
Turn a target amount and time horizon into a month-end contribution estimate. Start with what you have already saved and choose an assumed return, including zero.
Enter your values to see an estimate. Enter 0 for amounts that do not apply.
How this calculator works
Existing savings grow over the horizon. The remaining target is divided by the future-value factor for equal month-end deposits. If existing savings already reach the target, the required contribution is zero.
Worked example
To reach 1,200 from zero over 12 months at 0% interest, contribute 100 per month. A starting balance already above the target needs no additional deposits in this model.
Assumptions and limits
A fixed return and unchanged deposits are assumptions, not guaranteed outcomes. Excludes taxes, fees, inflation and investment losses. This plan does not create or update a Savi account goal.
How to choose your inputs
Enter the full target for one date, then put only savings available for that goal in Starting savings and enter the months remaining. Do not subtract those savings from the target yourself. Keep emergency reserves or money committed to another goal out of the starting amount. Use a zero-return scenario to see the monthly saving required without relying on growth.
How to interpret your result
Compare the required monthly contribution with the surplus in your monthly budget. If it is too large, test a later deadline or smaller target rather than simply raising the return assumption. A zero contribution means the entered balance and assumed growth already reach the target; it does not verify that the money is accessible when needed.
