How this calculator works

Add debt balances to get the new loan principal. Simulate each current debt separately, without moving payments freed by one payoff to another debt. Compare their combined remaining payments with new loan payments plus cash fees.

Worked example

Two debts of 1,000 at 0%, each paid at 100 monthly, have combined payments of 200 and cost 2,000 remaining. A new 20-month 0% loan pays 100 monthly; with 50 cash fees its total cost is 2,050, an increase of 50.

Assumptions and limits

A lower payment can come from a longer term rather than savings. Assumes unchanged rates, no new charges and no financed fees. Total-cost savings are unavailable if any current debt remains unpaid at the 600-month cap. Excludes penalties and credit effects.

How to choose your inputs

Enter each existing debt’s balance, nominal rate and payment, then the replacement loan’s rate, term and cash fees. The two debt payments remain fixed until their own payoff; money freed by the first payoff is not automatically redirected to the second. Choose current payments that reflect your actual repayment plan, not a hypothetical combined average.

How to interpret your result

Compare total repayment as well as the new monthly amount. Extending the schedule can create payment relief without lowering cost. If either current debt is unpaid at the cap, total-cost savings are unavailable rather than proven; first test a payment that produces a complete baseline, or review the unresolved balance separately.
